Medicare Proposes 2022 Payment and Quality Reporting Changes

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the proposed 2022 Medicare physician fee schedule (PFS) rule this week, which includes proposed changes to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and alternative payment model (APM) participation options and requirements for 2022.

The changes include a decrease in the "conversion factor" -- the multiplier that Medicare applies to relative value units (RVUs) to calculate reimbursement for a particular service or procedure under Medicare's fee-for-service system.

Medicare to Weigh Nationwide Coverage Rules for Biogen Alzheimer's Drug

CMS will formally consider whether to adopt nationwide rules for coverage of Biogen's new Alzheimer's drug Aduhelm, announcing Monday the opening of a determination process that could shape how millions of Americans are able to access the controversial treatment. (Healthcare Dive)
