Medicare Proposes 2022 Payment and Quality Reporting
Changes
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released
the proposed 2022 Medicare physician fee schedule (PFS) rule this week,
which includes proposed changes to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System
(MIPS) and alternative payment model (APM) participation options and
requirements for 2022.
The changes include a decrease in the "conversion
factor" -- the multiplier that Medicare applies to relative value units
(RVUs) to calculate reimbursement for a particular service or procedure under
Medicare's fee-for-service system.
