SUPPORT for ME: Strengthening Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Services for MaineCare Members
SUPPORT for ME is a statewide effort to improve SUD
treatment and recovery services for all Mainers, with a particular focus on the
following:
• Adolescents and youth (12-21)
• Individuals transitioning from care settings (e.g.,
leaving incarceration)
• American Indian / Alaska Native Nations
• Rural populations
PROJECT GOAL:
This planning grant aims to increase MaineCare providers’
capacity to deliver Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery
services.
WHY?
Maine has one of the top 10 highest drug overdose rates in
the country. In 2019, there were 380 drug overdose deaths, with over 80%
due to opioids, nearly always in combination with other drugs or alcohol.
