US CDC: mRNA Vaccines Preferred Over J&J and Much More COVID Information The US CDC has updated its recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines with a preference for people to receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna). This comes
after the FDA and CDC last week authorized and approved a COVID-19 Pfizer

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), this week began distributing approximately $9 billion in Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Phase 4 payments to health care providers who have experienced revenue losses and expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The FDA has ended
restrictions on Mifeprex, a drug used to end pregnancies. The move will
allow the drug to now be prescribed via telehealth appointments and mailed to
patients through certified prescribers, or pharmacies, in addition to in-person
dispensing in clinics, medical offices, and hospitals. Read More

The 2022 individual and family health plan open
enrollment period is NOW through Jan. 15, 2022. The time period for health coverage to start Jan. 1, 2022, has passed but for coverage to start Feb. 1, 2022, patients can buy
a plan now through January 15, 2022. Patients can visit CoverME.gov, Maine's new Health
Insurance Marketplace, to shop for and select
affordable health insurance coverage for 2022 during the Open Enrollment period

released a proposed rule for review and comment. According to the Maine DHHS rule
summary, “This proposed rulemaking makes various, complex changes, including
changes to comply with federal regulations, make updates to reflect current
practices, clarify ambiguous and vague sections of policy, and increase the
MaineCare Program Integrity Unit’s ability to safeguard against fraud, waste,
