MMA Announces Support for ACA Medicaid Expansion Ballot Question 2

MMA President Charles F. Pattavina, M.D. announced the organization's support at a press conference hosted by the Portland Community Health Center last Wednesday morning, October 11th.

As reported last week, the MMA Board of Directors voted to support Question 2 on the November General Election ballot to expand Medicaid as permitted under the ACA during its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 4th.  The Yes on 2 Campaign asked MMA to make its announcement during the press event already scheduled for the 11th.  Hosted by a Maine Primary Care Association member, the event featured representatives of that group, MMA, the Maine Academy of Family Physicians, and the Maine Chapter of the American College of Physicians, all endorsing the ballot question.  MMA's position is consistent with its long-standing support for the ACA (despite some acknowledged faults) and for Medicaid expansion bills in the Maine legislature.  You can find the MMA's press release on the topic here.
