MICIS: Next Steps in Addressing Maine's Opioid Crisis

2018 Maine Independent Clinical Information Service opioid education presentations.

MICIS, the Maine Independent Clinical Information Service, has been providing evidence-based prescribing education throughout Maine since 2008.  In 2017, MICIS focused exclusively on providing opioid education required by Maine law, Chapter 488, and this year presents new clinical modules and an updated presentation on opioid-related prescribing laws and rules. Topics include:

  • Opioid Use Disorder and Medication Assisted Recovery: Caring For Our Communities
  • Alternative Treatments for Chronic Pain
  • Co-Prescribing Benzodiazepines and Opioids: The Black Box of Increased Overdose Risk (launching summer 2018)
  • Recent Legal Changes Affecting Opioid Prescribing in Maine.
