Register Today for 165th MMA Annual Session, Sept. 7-9 in Bar Harbor

The keynote speakers and CME program for the Association's 165th Annual Session in Bar Harbor Sept. 7-9, 2018 is the strongest in many years. Make plans now to join your colleagues for a weekend of education, networking and fun. The Honorable George Mitchell and former director of the White House Office of Drug Control Policy Michael Botticelli are the keynote speakers.

The program begins with an opening night reception at 5:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 7 (note that the MMA Board meets earlier, at 3:00 pm). Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell speaks at 6:00 pm. The Saturday morning business meeting begins at 7:30am followed by Michael Botticelli's keynote presentation at 10:00 am. His presentation is followed by two panels focusing on strategies to address the opioid/heroin/fentanyl crisis and alternatives to opioids for pain, including medical marijuana and acupuncture.

Saturday evening will feature the Annual Dinner with several awards being presented and a new President-elect being introduced. 50 year pins will also be given to those members attending who are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their graduation from medical school.

Sunday morning the 38th running of the Edmund Hardy, M.D. Road Race will begin promptly at 7:00 am (course is about 3 miles and walkers are welcome). The educational program beings at 8:00am with a panel of physician executives leading hospital organizations in Maine. At 9:00am the meeting concludes with a forum featuring the four gubernatorial candidates. The meeting concludes by 11:00am Sunday.

A special thank you to the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership which is facilitating two of the three CME panels.

Register now on the MMA website at www.mainemed.com. Although the Harborside Hotel is sold out, several other facilities within walking distance of the meeting are available and staff at the MMA office can assist members with securing alternate housing (622-3374 and press 0 for assistance).
