Maine Legislature's List of Bill Titles Proposed for 2020 Session

The Maine Legislature has published the list of bill requests for the 2020 session.

The Maine Legislature has published the list of bill requests for the 2020 session. These are bill titles, with sponsor names, for any bills requested to be considered by the Legislature. Since this will be the second regular session of the 129th Legislature, bills must be of an emergency nature (although that term is often construed rather loosely), and they must be approved by the Legislative Council in order to be taken up by the Legislative committees and voted on.

The list is here: .

Among the proposals of significance to medicine are bills relating to surprise billing, firearms, prior authorization, health insurance coverage, drug costs, Lyme disease, informed consent for pelvic exams, vaccines (including a bill to allow naturopaths to write medical exemptions), telehealth, behavioral health, vaping, abortion, and scope of practice. The Weekly Update will publish links to the bills which have been allowed and to the text contents of those bills when they become available.
