NACCHO wishes solace to the families who lost loved ones and a speedy recovery to all those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. We appreciate the capabilities and resilience of first and continuing responders. During this period of healing, we cannot stress enough that all disasters, both natural and man-made, strike locally and emergency preparedness must continue to be a national priority. NACCHO has compiled resources for local health departments (LHDs), community partners, individuals, and families to aid in their recovery. Learn more »

Communicable Disease Preparedness on Domestic Flights: Report on LHD and Airport Coordination

NACCHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hosted meetings with stakeholders to discuss guidelines for local response to illnesses reported on board domestic flights. This report provides LHDs with a basis for developing response procedures and identifies issues and recommendations noted during the discussions. Read the report »

RWJF’s Roadmaps to Health Prize

LHDs that are helping people live healthier lives through outstanding community partnerships can compete to win $25,000 for their communities through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's (RWJF's) Roadmaps to Health Prize. Applications are due May 23. Learn more »

NACCHO Announces New Officers

Terry Allan, Health Commissioner for the Cuyahoga County (OH) Board of Health, became NACCHO’s new President on April 1. Former President John Wiesman, DrPH, MPH, CPH, vacated the position prior to the end of his term to accept an appointment as Washington state’s Secretary of Health. Read more »
