Senate Democrats Roll Out $4.4B Energy Bill

WASHINGTON -- Senate Democrats unveiled an energy bill Tuesday that includes more than $4.4 billion for natural gas-powered and electric vehicles. It also would give fuelers cash grants of up to $50,000 to install natural gas pumps through 2015, and authorize research, development and demonstration grants by the Energy Department. (Read more)

GM to Sell Chevy Volt for $41,000; Lease Terms Close to Leaf's

General Motors Co., the largest U.S. automaker, will sell its Chevrolet Volt for a starting price of $41,000 and lease terms similar to those on Nissan Motor Co.’s Leaf electric car. (Read more)

Leaf Matches Volt Battery Warranty

Nissan Motor Co. said today that the lithium-ion battery pack that powers the all-electric Leaf hatchback will carry a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles -- matching its nearest rival, the Chevrolet Volt. (Read more)

Consumer Confidence Slips for Second Month in Row

A closely watched index of consumer confidence fell for the second-consecutive month in July to 50.4 from 54.3 and is at its lowest level since February, the Conference Board said Tuesday. (Read more)
