Obama to Tout Auto Turnaround

When the president travels to Michigan on Friday, he’ll tout the revival of General Motors and Chrysler since the auto companies received billions in federal aid and government-assisted bankruptcies. The Obama administration, though, still has its bailout demons. This month Neil Barofsky, special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, slammed the Treasury Department for failing to consider unemployment and lost auto sales when it pushed GM and Chrysler to close dealerships during the structured bankruptcies.
