NADA Elects Utah Dealer Stephen Wade as 2011 Chairman

WASHINGTON -- NADA has elected Stephen Wade as chairman for 2011. Wade is president of Stephen Wade Auto Center in St. George, Utah. His franchises include Chevrolet, Cadillac, Chrysler, Nissan, Mazda and a powersports store that includes Yamaha, Honda, Polaris and Suzuki. The NADA board of directors also elected William P. Underriner as 2011 vice chairman. Underriner is president of Underriner Motors in Billings, Mont. The election was held Tuesday at a meeting of the board of directors in Washington. Wade and Underriner will officially take office at the NADA Convention & Exposition in San Francisco, Feb. 5-7.

Two Auto Dealerships Named Winners of the EPA's 2010 Energy Star Small Business Award

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized four small businesses for their energy efficiency achievements. Two of the four small business winners are auto dealerships: AutoFair Companies in Manchester, N.H. and Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine. (Read more)

Ford Says U.S. Fiesta Buyers Seek High-End Options

DETROIT -- Early U.S. sales for Ford Motor Co's Fiesta show that consumers are buying higher-end versions of the new small car, boosting the automaker's profit on sales in a traditionally low-margin segment, company officials said on Wednesday. (Read more)

Rep. Dingell Disputes China's Electric-Car Policy

DETROIT–U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D., Mich.) on Wednesday sent a letter to China's ambassador to the U.S. urging the Chinese government to reconsider an effort to force auto makers to hand over proprietary electric vehicle technology as a condition to participate in the market. (Read more)

Mitsubishi CEO Pledges to Stay in U.S., Wants to Quadruple Sales

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. President Osamu Masuko says the company won't pull out of the U.S. market and that his personal mid-range sales target is 200,000 units a year, or roughly four times today's level of 50,000. (Read more)
