Floorplan Program Set for Spring

The federal government has suspended its floorplan financing program for small dealerships and now plans to have a new program offering larger loans operating in the spring, a Small Business Administration official said. Editor's Note: NADA is working closely with the SBA on the development of its revised Dealer Floor Plan program. The new loan limits together with the new size standards should mean many more dealers will be eligible to apply for SBA-guaranteed floor plan loans, once the program rolls out. Before then, NADA also will work with major floor plan lenders to encourage them to get involved with the SBA’s new program.

Auto Industry's New Math Sends Leases Soaring

Environmental Lift of Battery Cars Is Limited

Most No Better Than Hybrids Because They Will Be Recharged With Electricity From Coal- or Gas-Fired Power Plants

Electric cars, advocates say, are harbingers of a green, emission-free future, helping cut greenhouse gases and smog. Yet the environmental benefits of electric vehicles will be limited for years because most will be recharged by electricity produced by coal- and gas-fired power plants. (Read more)

"Our arithmetic says leasing is a good deal. It's a good bet that resale values will be a little better later on."
