Honda to Recall About 650,000 Odyssey Minivans in U.S.

Honda Motor Co said on Thursday it will recall nearly 650,000 Odyssey minivans in the United States covering 2011 to 2016 model years because second-row seats may not lock in the event of a crash. No injuries or crashes have been reported related to this issue, Honda's U.S. division said. Owners in the larger recall will be notified by letter in mid-February. The parts to fix this issue will not be available until the spring, Honda said.

Amazon: Friend or Foe?

Many tech giants have tried entering the automotive space. Google, most notably, has made attempts to disrupt the car-buying experience. Yahoo began fading out Yahoo Autos this past February — a little more than four years after scrapping its exclusive relationship with TrueCar. Even Facebook took a stab at adding an automotive vertical. Now Amazon appears to be cozying up to car buyers, although it has yet to reveal its plans in the automotive retail space.

For now, it appears Amazon is quietly collecting data about customers who do use Amazon Vehicles — data that could be used to Amazon’s advantage at some point. (Many have guessed the likeliest of options is in the advertising space.)

Ford Pitches Tax Breaks to Bolster Year-End Truck Sales

Buy a truck and write it off. That’s the message Ford Motor Co. is sending to small-business owners in an effort to bolster demand for its most profitable products in the final days of 2016.

Auto makers typically pour on sales incentives and ramp up advertising to ensure strong December sales. General Motors Co., for instance, is currently staging a “Red Tag Sales Event” that offers a $9,600 discount on certain versions of its Silverado pickups.
