Potential Lean Car Dealer Stocks Defy Customer Wants

Automotive analyst and researcher Glenn Mercer says in the 30 years he’s been in the business he has heard much about build-to-order – in which dealership customers spec-out what they want, automakers build them fast and the finished product shows up at the dealership ASAP. “In the build-to-order world, dealers would truly have a ‘showroom’ with not a lot of inventory hanging around,” Mercer tells WardsAuto. “This seems like a very attractive prediction.” But it isn’t even close to materializing. “We have software tools for customers to configure vehicles online, and factories are more flexible. Yet, we’ve seen the build-to-order forecasts reliably fail over the last three decades,” Mercer says.

3 Report Findings Show Ride Sharing Might Not Squelch Car Buying Altogether

The speculation that dealership showrooms and finance company underwriting offices would become desolate because consumers simply would abandon vehicle purchasing for alternative transportation options such as Uber and Lyft appears to be a little bit premature. Experts from Strategy Analytics acknowledged that OEMs are rightfully concerned about the impact the increased usage of these options will have on consumers' interest in purchasing future vehicles. However, a new report from the automotive connected mobility (ACM) service at Strategy Analytics released on Monday has found that ridesharing usage may not negatively impact the future vehicle purchase intention of current vehicle owners.

OSHA Kicks Off Safe + Sound Week

As a partner with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, NADA is encouraging its members to participate in OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, which runs from June 12-18, 2017.

What Is Safe + Sound Week?
A nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.

Why Participate?
Safe workplaces are sound businesses. Successful safety and health programs can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line. Participating in Safe + Sound Week can help get your program started or energize an existing one.

Who Is Encouraged to Participate?
Organizations of any size or in any industry looking for an opportunity to show their commitment to safety to workers, customers, the public or supply chain partners should participate.

How to Participate?
Participating in Safe + Sound Week is easy. To get started, select the activities you would like to do at your workplace. Some organizations might want to host a public event. Examples of potential activities and tools to help you plan and promote your events are available. After you've completed your events, you can download a certificate and web badge to recognize your organization and your workers. Click here for more details.
