Unifor Strike Puts Dent in Chevrolet Equinox Inventories

A strike by workers at a General Motors factory in Canada could begin to impact consumer choice and dealer stocks of the Chevrolet Equinox -- one of the top-10 selling vehicles in the U.S. Production of the compact crossover at CAMI Assembly in Ingersoll, Ontario, has been idled since Sept. 17, when workers walked off the job after bargainers for Canadian union Unifor and General Motors hit a roadblock in contract talks over job security.

For Electric Car Owners, ‘Range Anxiety’ Gives Way to ‘Charging Time Trauma’

An oft-cited reason people don’t buy electric cars is “range anxiety” — if batteries struggle to take you as far as gas and charging stations are limited in number, the thinking goes, who would want one? But there is another obstacle: charging time trauma. Compared with a five-minute pit stop at your local gas station, charging an electric vehicle is a glacially slow experience. Modern electric cars still often need an entire night to recharge at home, and even at a commercial fast charging station, a fill-up can take an hour or more.

NADA Group Life Insurance Program Offers ‘Summer Premium Holiday’

Often with the summer months comes summer savings, and this year clients of NADA Insurance took a holiday from premiums. Member dealers who supply their employees with a NADA group life insurance program were granted a “Summer Premium Holiday” this past July and August. No premiums were due on their employee group plan coverage over the two-month span. This premium holiday was supplied by the NADA Insurance Trust because of the health of the group plan program. Quotable
"Electric vehicles are more like horses than gasoline cars. They are like a horse that eats whenever you’re not riding it: you refuel them when you’re doing something else."

-- Pasquale Romano, chief executive ChargePoint, the largest installer of vehicle charging stations in the United States, commenting on the slow recharging times of EVs, The New York Times, Oct. 5
