North to the Future – Are You On Board?
NADO’s 2008 Annual Training Conference, North to the Future, will begin in 24 days. Are you ready?
Don’t forget: the early bird registration deadline was extended to this Friday (September 12th)…if you have not yet registered for the conference, you might want to do it this week!
Conference highlights include:
- Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich will be present during the opening plenary session on Monday.
- Four-time Iditarod Champion Martin Buser will be the luncheon speaker on Monday. He will talk about his experiences on the race and how that helped shape his life and business.
- Special learning labs designed for executive directors and policy board members.
- Twelve best practice sessions on topics ranging from regional approaches to alterative and renewable energy to handling difficult personnel situations.
- Five program area networking forums for attendees to talk about specific topics, share their experiences and learn from their peers.
- Three plenary sessions focusing on regional innovations, mega-regions and the future of regional development.
- Nine mobile workshops – three that will venture outside of Anchorage to points north, south and southeast and six that will bring participants throughout the city.
- Special reception honoring the 2008 Innovation awardees.
- The annual opening reception on Sunday evening, complete with beverages and “heavy” hors d' oeuvres (NADO speak for dinner) and music.
Mobile Workshops Popular…Conference Hotel Room Block Full!!
- Five of the mobile workshops are closed: The Kenai Peninsula: Microcosm of Alaska’s Economy, Talkeetna: Thriving Gateway Community, Merging Scenic Byways with Economic Development: Tour of the Seward Highway Scenic Byway, the Port of Anchorage, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
