RUS Announces Availability of Well System Funding
On November 20, the Department of Agriculture Rural Utility Service (RUS) announced the availability of FY 2009 funds from the Household Water Well System (HWWS) grant program. The announcement is being made prior to passage of a USDA FY 2009 Appropriations bill, which may or may not provide HWWS funding. Funding notices, if any, will be published at a later date. The HWWS Grant provides funds to nonprofit organizations to assist them in establishing loan programs from which individuals may borrow money for household water well systems. The individuals may use the loans to construct, refurbish and service their household well systems. A loan may not exceed $11,000 and will have a term up to 20 years at a one percent annual interest rate. Applications are due May 31, 2009. For additional program eligibility and application information, go to www.usda.gov/rus/water/well.htm or contact Cheryl Francis, USDA Loan Specialist, at 202.720.1937 or cheryl.francis@wdc.usda.gov.
