Registration Open for National Rural Transportation Conference
Register today for the National Rural Transportation Peer Learning Conference, to be held Sunday, August 17 – Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Downtown Waterfront Holiday Inn in Duluth, Minnesota.
Invited keynote speakers include Congressman James Oberstar, Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee; Vice Admiral Thomas J. Barrett, Deputy Secretary of Transportation; and David Cole, Commissioner of the Maine Department of Transportation.
This event will feature educational sessions on a variety of rural and small metropolitan transportation topics. Sessions may cover such policy and technical issues as transportation and economic development, land use, relationships with state departments of transportation, regional transit, GIS and technology applications, prioritizing projects and securing local buy-in, safety planning, intermodal transportation, finance and other topics.
Conference sponsors include America's Byways Resource Center, Arrowhead Regional Development Commission, Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Development District Association of Appalachia, Federal Highway Administration, NADO Research Foundation, NADO’s RPO America, and Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission.
The Annual Business Meeting of RPO America will be held during the conference, and the National RPO Council of Peers will also meet.
American Planning Association AICP Certification Maintenance credits may be offered at this event. Details will be posted to the conference Web site as they become available.
