Almost 80% of U.S. Medicare beneficiaries age 65 and older don't know the last day for Open Enrollment to make changes in their insurance plan is December 7.

The survey by HealthPocket, a free website that compares and ranks all health plans, found many mistakenly think they have until the end of the year to make changes to their plans.

  • 33% said the ending date for making changes to their insurance plans was December 31
  • 26% said December 1
  • 19% said December 15
  • 22% answered correctly that it is December 7
