Federal PCIP Broker Registration Process Open

In May, the Obama administration announced that the high-risk pool program created by PPACA would begin paying agents and brokers for successfully enrolling eligible people into the PCIP program this fall. HHS was able to get the registration program up and running ahead of schedule and will begin paying the $100 flat enrollment fee September 1. Agents and brokers who wish to become involved can now register.

To qualify to participate in the PCIP program, you must be an insurance broker in good standing in your state, have your license confirmed through the NIPR database, have a valid federal tax identification number (FTIN) or social security number (SSN), agree to accept payments through EFT and submit a completed EFT form for electronic payment.

The PCIP referral program is only open to the 23 states where the federal government runs the PPACA high-risk pool program.

Carly Fiorina Has Joined the FHCE to Lower the Ranks of the Uninsured, and So Can You!

The Foundation for Health Coverage Education recently welcomed Carly Fiorina, former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, to its Advisory Board. "As a cancer survivor, I will never take my health or my access to good health care for granted,” said Carly Fiorina. “All Americans deserve that same peace of mind. Through the effective, common-sense efforts of FHCE, so many people can easily determine their eligibility and access to health care.” As brokers, YOU are a large part of that “common sense effort.”

Over 300 of you have joined the FHCE’s Volunteer Broker Network to assist U.S. Uninsured Help Line 800-234-1317 callers, and the positive feedback has been astounding. FHCE would like to ask, if you are not a member of their Volunteer Broker Network, that you become one today! Simply e-mail your name, health insurance specialization (individual, group, etc.), and contact information to fhceinfo@coverageforall.org. It’s time to join FHCE & Carly in their efforts to lower the ranks of the uninsured!
