How to Localize National Press Releases

NAHU released a new statement, NAHU Statement on Final MLR Rule, in response to HHS issuing a final rule and an interim final rule addressing a variety of issues relative to PPACA's MLR requirements. To make it easier to utilize press releases as templates, here is a Word document of the press release.

There have been and will continue to be a lot of press releases coming from NAHU regarding MLR, speaking engagements and meetings. Helping these events receive wider coverage is fast and easy.

  1. Save a copy of the most recent press release to your computer, like this recent release: NAIC Resolution in Support of Agents Encourages Consumer Protection (also available as a Word document).
  2. If you want to forward the national press release as-is, skip to step 5.
  3. Input your chapter contact information, and determine if there is any way to change the information in the release from a national focus to a local focus. This can be as simple as changing the term “Americans” to “residents of our state,” or you can add a sentence or paragraph with information specific to your area.
  4. Save your changes and convert the press release to a PDF.
  5. Attach the press release to an e-mail and write a short note saying exactly what is attached. It’s generally a good idea to either do a MailMerge or Bcc your media list and send the e-mail to yourself.

Read all of the newest press releases from NAHU. Also make sure to subscribe to our RSS feed to receive notification when press releases and news stories are posted to the web site. If you need an updated media list (anything that is more than a year old should be updated), please let us know.
