This Week in Washington

With their district work period over, lawmakers straggled back to Washington this weekend.

In addition to the potential consideration of the 1099 issue on the Senate floor, other items on the health policy agenda include a Wednesday Senate Appropriations hearing on the HHS budget with Secretary Sebelius expected to testify. She will make a repeat performance on Friday before the House Appropriations committee.

Also on Wednesday, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s health subgroup will explore the true cost of PPACA and on Friday, the committee’s oversight and investigations subgroup will review the federal high risk program with federal director Richard Popper.

Finally, on Friday the Ways and Means Committee will take on an investigation of AARP.
