HUPAC Welcomes Steve Salamon to the Team!

As HUPAC embarks on its critical mission to raise $1 million for its war chest, its Board of Trustees recently voted to contract with a vendor to intensify fundraising efforts. NAHU staff, in correlation with the HUPAC Board of Trustees, is excited to announce the committee’s unanimous choice, Mr. Stephen J. Salamon of the Lion Trainer Group, LLC.

Steve is an independent health insurance and employee benefit broker and a longtime member of NAHU. During his 32-year career in the industry, Steve has served in numerous leadership capacities for NAHU, including HUPAC Chairman (2001-2002), Legislative Council Chairman (2000-2001), Baltimore Association of Health Underwriters “Person of the Year” (1997) and is a recipient of NAHU’s “Distinguished Service Award” (1995).

Steve has been involved in politics and fundraising efforts for over 25 years. He was actively involved in the campaign and administration of former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. Governor Ehrlich appointed Steve to the Maryland Health Care Commission in March 2003, where he was later named Chairman of the Commission in October of 2004, serving there until his resignation on February 15, 2007. In June 2007 he established The Lion Trainer Group, LLC to reach out to trade association members and motivate them to become engaged in the legislative process.

Steve is looking forward to working closely with NAHU members to strengthen NAHU’s political action committee by combining their financial resources to support candidates aligned with private sector solutions for the distribution of health care coverage.
