On Friday, the Obama Administration released another round of proposed health reform regulations -- 373 pages worth! The first rule, which comes from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is 209 pages long, has been dubbed the triple-R rule, as it addresses the processes for reinsurance, risk-adjustment and risk corridors in the individual and small group markets. So We’re Going to Have Federal Exchange, Now What?
The newly extended federal deadline of December 14 for states to declare whether and how they plan to establish a health benefit exchange is fast approaching, but most states have made their decisions already. So far, more states have opted for either a fully federally-facilitated exchange or a federal partnership exchange instead of running their own. Of the ten states that still remain undecided, most appear to be leaning towards the federally-facilitated model too. Obama Administration Objects to Oklahoma PPACA Challenge
On Monday, December 3, the Obama Administration filed an objection to the state of Oklahoma’s latest challenge to the health reform law regarding the authority of a federally facilitated exchange to give out premium tax credit subsidies.
