Our favorite Senate Bill now has a number and it is S. 650! Last Thursday, March 21, Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) put the “Broker Bill,” or as it is more formally known, the Access to Independent Health Insurance Advisors Act of 2013, in the Senate hopper just before Congress left town on Easter Recess. Senators Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Begich (D-AK) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) signed on as the original bipartisan co-sponsors. It takes a few days for bills to get assigned numbers, but we now know that S. 650 is the lucky one.
Once Congress returns to Washington, we anticipate that the House version of the bill will be dropped in the coming weeks. While we’re waiting, please urge your Senators to sign onto S. 650!
