As we approach week three of open enrollment, technology issues with healthcare.gov still seem to be causing agents, brokers and consumers big headaches. But you don’t need us to tell you that. Practice What You Preach

This week, 15 Indiana school districts backed by the state Attorney General have filed a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other federal agencies. They are challenging the IRS’s authority to fund the insurance subsidies created under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) for individuals and enacting penalties against public employers (such as state and local governments) that don’t meet the health law’s minimum worker coverage requirement. The Shutdown Continues

It seems like we have all been doing a lot of counting lately—counting of employees, counting down to the start of exchange open enrollment, trying to count anyone who may have successfully enrolled in an exchange-based policy. Lately, though, we’ve been counting just how long the federal government has been shut down (11 days) and how many days left to go before the debt ceiling hits (six days).
