The good news is that this week we did not receive a 678-page regulatory surprise from CMS about the health reform law. The bad news is that CMS did issue such a tome about Medicare and, among many other things, agent compensation for Medicare Advantage plans is covered at length. CMS released the proposed rule on Monday evening and published it in the Federal Register today. Kindly, the agency has given the public until March 7 to provide comments... Read More

DOL Releases FAQ on Market Reforms

On Thursday morning, the Department of Labor issued a FAQ that certainly rounds the bases in terms of topics. Preventive services, limits on out-of-pocket costs, expatriate plans, wellness programs, fixed indemnity insurance and mental health parities are all discussed in the 10-page document. CGI Gets the Boot

While both contractors in question and CMS have declined to comment, earlier today, the Washington Post reported that CGI, the main contractor responsible for building the Healthcare.gov website, is about to get the boot as the primary contractor working on the infrastructure of Healthcare.gov. After the abysmal rollout of the website, we’re just surprised that it took the Administration this long to start firing some people; but then again, it’s the federal government and we all know things run at a slower pace over there... Read More
