Congress is in the middle of its two-week spring break and the Washington Update podcast is using this week to rest our voices ahead of what we expect to be a busy spring when they return on April 24. In the meantime, we’re looking to hear from you on any meetings you are having with your federal legislators during this “in-district work period.” Have you had a chance to meet up with your member of Congress yet to tell them all about NAHU’s legislative priorities? There are still plenty of opportunities to chat with your representative about the critical importance of the employer exclusion as Congress debates whether to begin taxing your clients’ healthcare benefits in either a revamped reconciliation bill to repeal and replace parts of the ACA, or in another tax reconciliation package.
If you haven’t made an appointment yet, now is a prime time to meet with your representative and tell them about our legislative priorities. A good place to start is to check out your legislators’ websites to see if they have any public events coming up or call their office to ask about an opportunity to meet locally. If you have any questions about what to talk about with your specific member of Congress, please reach out to us and we’ll be happy to help!
But even if you aren’t meeting with your member of Congress over the next couple of weeks, that doesn’t mean that you can’t let your senators or representative know about our bills. Head over to the NAHU Federal Action Center to take action on our federal legislative priorities by sending an Operation Shout.
