Healthcare Happy Hour Podcast: NAHU CEO Janet Trautwein Meets with White House and the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Over the past week, both the White House and the House Energy and Commerce Committee hosted roundtable events to discuss the current state of the health insurance market and what can be done to lower costs, increase choice and availability of plans, and introduce transparency to the healthcare market. NAHU’s CEO Janet Trautwein was invited to both of these exclusive meetings. On this week’s episode Janet sits down with NAHU’s Vice President of Government Affairs, Marcy M. Buckner, to discuss the content of these meetings and what actions we can expect from the Administration and Congress as a result of the conversations that took place with the leading policymakers at these meetings. Janet and Marcy will review the Administration’s intentions for implementing transparency, not just in cost, but in other areas of healthcare and health insurance as well as what could possibly be included in the long awaited proposed rule on Health Reimbursement Accounts that is expected to be released soon from the Department of Labor, Treasury, and the Department of Health and Human Services. They will also focus on the possible foreshadowing these meetings may have had on the plans Republicans are putting in place for actions following the mid-term elections and what we may see introduced in the 116th Congress.
