Fast Facts
  • NAHU-supported legislation to fully repeal the Cadillac/excise Tax now has the support of more than 300 bipartisan co-sponsors, surpassing the 290 co-sponsor threshold required for a vote on the House floor. A timeline for holding a vote has not yet been announced.
  • Members of the Senate Bipartisan Working Group introduced legislation to prohibit surprise medical billing under certain conditions and to provide for a “baseball style” arbitration process to settle disputes between insurers and providers. House Energy and Commerce Committee leadership offered an alternative discussion draft that does not allow for arbitration.
  • The House voted 234-183 to pass H.R. 987, legislation that would rescind the Trump Administration’s final rule expanding short-term plans, restore ACA marketplace and outreach funding, and reduce the cost of pharmaceuticals.
  • NAHU-supported legislation was introduced in both the House and Senate that would restore the 40-hour workweek from the ACA’s 30-hour benefit eligibility threshold. We will be activating Operation Shout on this issue next week.
