  • The Trump Administration released its final rule on the expansion of Health Reimbursement Arrangements that is scheduled to take effect in January 2020. The rule establishes new individual-coverage HRAs and excepted-benefit HRAs.
  • NAHU, along with seven industry stakeholders, founded the Coalition Against Surprise Medical Billing, an effort to promote legislative solutions that will protect patients from exorbitant charges by out-of-network providers.
  • NAHU submitted comments in support of a proposed rule to clarify the types of compensation and benefits used in determining an employee’s rate of pay, such as wellness plans.
  • The House voted 236-188 to ban funding for the expansion of short-term plans as an amendment to H.R. 2740, a $1 trillion “minibus” spending package. Final passage of the minibus is expected next week after consideration of more than 200 amendments, although President Trump has indicated he plans to veto the funding bill.
