The past several weeks have been full of activity for NAHU’s priority legislative issues. During our annual Capitol Conference, the House Medicare for All bill was introduced, giving a prime opportunity for NAHU members to counter the message in person. We also saw the introduction of new legislation to delay the Health Insurance Tax and to fully repeal the Cadillac Tax. And this week legislation was introduced to fix Medicare’s two-midnight rule for patients placed on observation status. On this week’s episode, NAHU’s Marcy M. Buckner and John Greene recap the legislative issues that have sprung up over the past several weeks since the last regular edition of the Healthcare Happy Hour. They also look at recent Trump Administration announcements, including the proposed rule to expand the sale of health insurance across state lines and the president’s 2020 budget request, which included several of NAHU’s priorities we’ve been seeking through Congress.
