Utah Glass Association Welcomed as New NGA-Affiliated Chapter

NGA welcomes the Utah Glass Association (UGA) as an NGA-Affiliated Chapter. “NGA has made educating the workforce one of its top strategic goals, and the Utah Glass Association’s recent launch of a four-year glazier apprenticeship program in Utah illustrates their commitment to that crucial common goal,” says Chris Bole, president, Pikes Peak Glass, Inc. and chair of NGA’s Board of Directors.

NGA Staff Goes to Washington
As many of you may know, NGA’s office is located in suburban Washington, DC.  We recently took advantage of our proximity to the Nation’s Capital to take the entire NGA staff on a ‘field trip’ to the U.S. Capitol. While there, we were led on a tour to learn about some of the more architecturally significant elements of the building (both new and old) and were reminded of our country’s motto, E pluribus unum, meaning “out of many, one.” In reflecting back on our visit, that motto stands out as a guidepost for NGA’s staff, as we are many who form one team with a singular focus to work on behalf of our member companies. We are here to help, so don't hesitate to reach out to any staff member if a need arises. And if you ever find yourself in the DC area, please know that you always have an open invitation to visit NGA.

Are You Top Gun When It Comes to Innovation?

By David Vermeulen, TGP

I was recently turned onto a podcast called The Rewatchables, which features a round table discussion of movies the hosts can’t seem to stop watching. This show is insightful without being boring, and the cast is hilarious. Recently I listened to an episode where they broke down the 80s classic, “Top Gun.” Like most people, I believed that I already had a pretty good take on the movie. But the podcast made me look at “Top Gun” in an entirely new light.

In The Rewatchables, they analyze the movies by using a consistent series of prompts that guide the team as they explore ambiguous themes and topics. For example, when they looked at “Top Gun” the categories included, “Moments of Unintentional Comedy,” “What Aged the Best/Worst,” and “Apex Mountain” where they ask, “is this the actor’s best work … the peak of his or her career?”
