Three Tips to Make Yelp Work for Your Business
by Welton Hong, Ring Ring Marketing

Superman and Kryptonite. Harry Potter and Voldemort. Your cat and the vacuum cleaner. They’re all natural enemies, just like business owners and Yelp. While not all business owners necessarily hate Yelp, many window and door professionals would be perfectly happy if America’s biggest consumer review site simply disappeared from the Internet.

While Yelp can be challenging and even frustrating, it is an undeniable force that consumers rely on. Consider that, according to Yelp’s latest factsheet, 12 percent of the site’s users access reviews for home and local services—the third highest category, behind restaurants and shopping. So, it’s important to do what is in your power to become one of the 44 percent of ratings that earn five stars, instead of the 15 percent of businesses that receive one star.
