New Window Manufacturer Sets Up in West Virginia
A group of 12 investors, including some former executives from Simonton Windows, have launched a new vinyl window manufacturing operation. The company, called Wincore Windows & Doors, recently started production in a 50,000-square-foot facility in Parkersburg, W.Va.

The company will draw on the experience of several industry veterans for leadership, including Rick Barton, who serves as Wincore’s president. Sterling Simonton, one-time chief executive with Simonton, lends his specialization in bow and bay windows with his firm, Legacy Designs, which will be housed in the Wincore building. “Sterling Simonton is back among us,” Barton said at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. “He’s a legend in the window industry.”

Company officials expect to build its new workforce to about 85 employees by year end. Wincore products, including vinyl windows and doors for both new construction and replacement applications, will be distributed through a traditional dealer network, with the initial focus on the Eastern and Southern portions of the country. While the company does not categorize its products as economy level, they are competitively priced, says spokesperson Heath Honaker. “What separates these guys from the competition is that they’re very much into quality,” he says. “Not just quality products—quality manufacturing, quality relationships and quality service.”

According to a report about the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, company officials explained that Wincore intends to target a different niche than its local competitor. “Our first customers and our first orders were from people who aren’t even currently buying from West Virginia window companies,” Barton said.

The company’s future Web site, http://www.wincorewindows.com, will be available shortly. For more information, call 866/946-2673.
