Millwork Distributors Heading to Denver
The Association of Millwork Distributors gathers next week for its annual convention and exhibition. The event begins Friday, November 2, with a day devoted to educational sessions at the Adams Mark Hotel in Denver. The trade show runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 3-5.

Door products will dominate the AMD show floor in Denver.

Topics to be addressed on Friday include the economic outlook, changes in code requirements, lean, the demand for green and the impact of Chinese manufacturers. In “Strategies for a Megaplayer Marketplace,” Greg Brooks, a building products industry consultant, will examine big builder and big distributor strategies, and emerging opportunities for independents. AMD will host an opening cocktail reception at the end of the day.

AMD business scheduled for the event includes a member vote on two proposed changes in the bylaws. The first change involves a broadened definition of millwork distributor, designed to open the organization to more potential members by accommodate the changing structure of the supply chain. The second change involves expanding the role of associate members in AMD’s leadership by allowing two to serve on its board of directors.

The exhibition, which will be held in the Colorado Convention Center, will feature displays from more than 100 suppliers. As usual, some of the largest will feature interior and exterior doors, with leading manufacturers such as Masonite, Plastpro, Steves & Sons and Therma-Tru returning to the show. The full list of exhibitors includes producers of high-end wood doors, suppliers of doorlites and other door components, manufacturers of pre-hanging and other door processing equipment, mouldings and trim, windows and other products.

On Monday, November 5, AMD is offering a special one-day registration fee and inviting non-member industry professionals to come see the event for themselves.

More information, including a list of exhibitors, is available at www.amdweb.com.
