Schüco May Sell to Four Seasons Sunrooms
Following Schüco International’s 2006 sale of its German vinyl window business, Schüco USA has signed a letter of intent to sell its U.S. replacement window business to Four Seasons Sunrooms. The move fits with Schüco’s corporate strategy to focus on its core competencies in aluminum and solar systems.

Schüco’s manufacturing facility in Newington, Conn., is the last remaining vinyl window production facility within the company’s worldwide group. The site focuses on custom-made vinyl windows and patio doors produced with German machinery. The deal swapping it to Four Seasons will likely be wrapped up in mid-2008.

“We are convinced that the acquisition of Schüco USA’s vinyl window business assets will extend our product range by a significant factor,” says Mitchell Pisik, CEO of Four Seasons. The company, based in Holbrook, N.Y., has manufactured sunrooms and conservatories since 1975, serving both the commercial and residential markets. “These high-quality windows and patio doors complement our product range perfectly.”

Schüco USA intends to intensify its focus on the fast-developing aluminum and solar systems business in the U.S. marketplace. “We can refocus our energies exclusively to supply Schüco’s proprietary and high quality aluminum and solar technologies to the U.S. market,” says Edgar Freund, president of Schüco USA. “Both product lines have excellent future growth opportunities for Schüco and our customers alike.”

Schüco USA was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Newington, Conn. Besides producing windows and patio doors, the company is a distributor for high-end fenestration, curtain wall and aluminum systems, as well as integrated solar photovoltaic and solar thermal products.
