Andersen Launches New Composite Line
At the recent PCBC 2008 show in San Francisco, Andersen Windows introduced the new 100 Series new construction window line made of its Fibrex composite. “This product line is tailored to the likes and needs of builders in the West,” says Blaine Verdoorn, marketing manager, “and we know they and their customers will appreciate its sustainable design.”

Designed to combine environmentally responsible construction, economical price, and energy-saving performance, Andersen 100 Series windows feature a clean, contemporary design and are available in single-hung, gliding, casement, awning and specialty fixed styles. They feature white interiors and four exterior color options.

Like the Renewal by Andersen replacement line, the products are manufactured with the company’s Fibrex material, a blend sawdust and polymer–much of it reclaimed directly from the company’s manufacturing plant operations. Reclaimed content in the product, in addition to high energy efficiency, enable the line to meet the needs of builders and architects looking to construct green homes, officials note.

The manufacturer states that 100 Series windows can help earn up to 17 LEED points in the Energy & Atmosphere category, up to 13 LEED points in the Materials & Resources category, and up to 15 LEED points in the Indoor Environmental Quality category.
