NJBankers Members Welcome to Participate in Delaware Bankers Association Trust Conference October 2-3

The NJBankers Trust & Wealth Management Committee has arranged for NJBankers members to participate in the Delaware Bankers Association’s 2012 Trust Conference to be held October 2-3, 2012 at the Hotel DuPont, Wilmington, Delaware.  NJBankers members will receive the DBA member registration fee and can take advantage of the early-bird discounted registration for registrations received by July 31, 2012.

CFPB to Supervise Credit Reporting Agencies

For the first time, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will supervise consumer reporting agencies that have more than $7 million in annual receipts.  The CFPB’s supervisory authority extends to about 30 companies that account for about 94 percent of the market’s annual receipts. One in Five Mortgage Refinancings Made Through HARP

According to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), HARP loans represented 20% of total refinances in May which is the largest increase since the program was launched in 2009. Read more

SHCPF Offers Members Vehicle to Meet CRA Loan and Investment Tests

NJBankers endorsed provider Senior Housing Crime Prevention (SHCPF) recently reported that New Jersey banks have loaned or invested over $11.6 million to help provide safe, crime-free living environments to over 1,180 New Jersey seniors that reside in nursing homes, HUD senior housing communities and veterans’ homes.  Eight NJBankers members are participating in this program that provides them a vehicle to meet both CRA loan and investment test requirements.  To learn more visit  www.shcpfoundation.org. FDIC Invites Member CEOs to Information Session Concerning Proposed Capital Rules

The FDIC’s New York Regional Office is hosting a session on Monday, July 23, 2012 that will focus on the two notices of proposed rulemaking applicable to community banks.

Due to space limitations, registrations will be accepted until they reach capacity. Session attendees must register in advance by accessing http://www.regonline.com/RegCap-NewYork. The FDIC is only able to accommodate one representative from your bank. If the CEO is unable to attend, please direct this letter to an appropriate member of your staff.

For those unable to attend and other bank staff, audio of the presentation can be heard by dialing 888-989-4346; Participant passcode: 7120671. Moreover, session materials will be posted to the FDIC’s Web site (www.fdic.gov) prior to the scheduled event. Read more

NJBankers Announces Availability of Education Award for Member Institution Employees

The New Jersey Bankers Association is once again pleased to announce the availability of a Savings Bond award through its Education Award Program.  The program was established in 1998 to encourage the further education of employees of NJBankers member institutions in financial institution management; to promote the industry’s interests; and to provide career opportunities and support for employees of NJBankers members.

Eligibility requirements and application materials were mailed out to managing officers and Human Resources managers.  Employees interested in this program should apply by August 15, 2012.

Oritani Bank Hosts Annual Golf Classic to Benefit The Center for Food Action

The golf outing will be held on Thursday, September 27th at the Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell.  All proceeds from the outing will help The Center for Food Action fight hunger and homelessness in Bergen County and the Upper Passaic Valley.  Read more

Deadline Approaching for 2013 NJBankers' New Jersey Financial Institutions Directory Information Gathering

During June, Accuity, the publisher of the Directory, sent a Request for Information to member banks to begin the updating process for the 2013 edition.  To ensure updated information is provided in the new directory, members should return the completed RFI to Accuity no later than July 27, 2012.   If your institution has not received a request from Accuity, please contact Emily DeMasi at 908-272-8500, ext. 610 or email  edemasi@njbankers.com.
