NJBankers Hosts Associate Member Orientation and "Asphalt in August" Picnic

On August 16th, NJBankers hosted two Associate Member Welcome Orientations for new associate members who joined the association from February 2012 to present. In addition to the day's core meetings, all associate members were invited to join association staff for the first NJBankers' Asphalt in August picnic at our Cranford office. It turned out to be a great day to welcome and meet with associate members who represented 16 firms.

Regulatory Agencies Propose Rule on Appraisals for High Risk Mortgages

The proposed rule would implement amendments to the Truth-in-Lending Act enacted by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Under Dodd-Frank, mortgage loans are higher-risk if they are secured by a consumer’s home and have interest rates above a certain threshold.   Read more

CFPB Proposes Rule to Improve Access to Appraisals

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has released a proposed rule that would require mortgage lenders to provide home loan applicants with copies of written appraisals and other home value estimates developed in connection with the mortgage application in order to ensure that applicants receive information about how the property’s value was determined prior to closing.      Read more

FinCEN Issues Ruling Clarifying Regulations for Subsidiaries

FinCEN determined that these subsidiaries are subject to the same regulations applicable to the parent financial institution and examinations of a Federal regulator for compliance with the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist obligations under the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).   Read more

Ackmann Appointed President and COO of Highlands State Bank

Highlands State Bank announced that Steven C. Ackmann has been appointed to serve as the Bank’s president and chief operating officer. In this role, he will be responsible for continuing the Bank’s strategic and business objectives.

Peter Brown Joins Two River Community Bank as Regional Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer

Two River Community Bank announced that Peter M. Brown has joined the bank as regional vice president, commercial loan officer. Mr. Brown previously served as president and CEO of Manasquan Savings Bank. 

In his new role with Two River Community Bank, he will be focused primarily in the Monmouth County market and will be located at the Bank’s Manasquan office on Route 71.   Read more

Nominations are Open for New Leaders in Banking Honors

The New Jersey Bankers Association and New Jersey Banker magazine are accepting nominations for our New Leaders in Banking honors. This program recognizes the upcoming stars of the banking industry.

Please nominate an individual that should be considered for this year's recognition. Self-nominations are acceptable.  Nominations will close on September 7, 2012.  Winners will be chosen by an independent committee and will be notified by early October.  Awards will be distributed at a dinner event on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Tropicana Resort in Atlantic City.      Read more
