Fed Beige Book: Economic Activity Expands at a Measured Pace

While several districts reported that activity grew at a modest pace or reported an increase in activity, weaker conditions in New York were attributed to widespread disruptions at the end of October and into November caused by Hurricane Sandy. The Philadelphia District reported general weakness that was exacerbated by the hurricane.      Read more

Agencies Seek Comments on BSA Definitions

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Federal Reserve  are seeking comments on a proposal to amend the definitions of "funds transfer" and "transmittal of funds" under the regulations implementing the Bank Secrecy Act.  Comments on the proposed rule are due January 25, 2013.   Read more

FEMA Updating Flood Maps

These new flood maps, also known as Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs), show flood risk at a property-by-property level.   When new maps are issued, risk may change as well as flood insurance requirements.   Read more
