IRS Proposed Rule Would Allow for Truncation

The IRS has published a proposed rule that would allow, but not require, truncation of all but the last four digits of a SSN, ITIN, or ATIN on payee copies of information returns in the Forms 1099, 1098, and 5498 series (except Form 1098-C). Comments on the proposal are due by February 21, 2013.   Read more
