NJBankers Board of Directors Elects Officers for 2013 - 2014


The NJBankers Board of Directors is pleased to announce the slate of Officers for 2013 - 2014. Elected to chairman is Stewart E. McClure, Jr., president and CEO of Somerset Hills Bank; Gerald Reeves, president and CEO of Sturdy Savings Bank is first vice chairman and Angela Snyder, CEO and vice chairman of Fulton Bank of New Jersey has been elected second vice chairman. Christie Administration Recognizes Actions of New Jersey Banking Community to Release Insurance Proceeds to Consumers Affected by Superstorm Sandy

Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Ken Kobylowski recently commended the actions of New Jersey community banks, national banks and servicers who continue to pursue ways to accelerate the release of insurance proceeds to New Jersey homeowners affected by Superstorm Sandy.  Banks have processed in excess of $600 million in Sandy-related claims in New Jersey and have released approximately 80 percent of insurance proceeds to date.   Read more

Ford and Vaccaro Meet with FRB Gov. Elizabeth Duke about Mutuality

Jay Ford, Crest Savings Bank president/CEO; and Jim Vaccaro, Manasquan Savings Bank president/CEO  and other America’s Mutual Banks (AMB) members recently met with Federal Reserve Board Governor Elizabeth Duke, a former community banker, in Washington DC. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the unique needs of mutual banks and the dangers of grouping mutual and commercial banks into one size fits all regulations.  Read more

Agencies Propose Changes to Call Report

The proposed changes would include, among other things, adding a question on whether the reporting institution offers separate deposit products -- other than time deposits -- to consumers compared to businesses; a request for information on international remittance transfers; and new data items for reporting all trade names that differ from an institution’s legal title.   Read more

OritaniBank Charitable Foundation Awards $20,000 Grant To Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon


The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $20,000 grant to Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc. for its Operation New Jersey program. Operation New Jersey was specifically created to support over 1,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen from the 508th Military Police Company in Teaneck and the 117th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Lawrenceville, NJ – all stationed now in Afghanistan – plus other units - to lift troop morale and welfare.    Read more
