NJBankers is pleased to announce the 2013 election results for the NJBankers Board of Directors: (First row)Christopher Martin, Provident Bank; Mortimer O'Shea, Hilltop Community Bank; Michael Schutzer, Harmony Bank; (Second row) Robert Stillwell, Boiling Springs Savings Bank; Norman Beatty, First Hope Bank; and Thomas Geisel, Sun National Bank.  Newly elected and reelected Board members will take the oath of office during the second General Session on May 18 at the upcoming Annual Conference.    Read more

SSBCI Provides $1.5 Billion to Leverage Bank Small Business Lending

The U.S. Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) is providing $1.5 billion nationally to state small business programs.  SSBCI’s purpose is to leverage bank small business lending.  SSBCI has identified the state programs that are receiving the SSBCI funding in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. BCG Inc. NEWS: No Rate Adjustment for Delta Premier Program; and Aetna Premium Savings Program Provides Cost Savings

We are pleased to report their will be “NO RATE ADJUSTMENT” for the NJBankers Sponsored Delta Dental Premier program renewal on July 1, 2013 despite the fact that the dental inflation trend factor is presently running at +2.23% annually. Additionally, there will be “NO CHANGE IN BENEFIT LEVELS” for the 2013 plan year.  


The health insurance landscape is constantly changing making it difficult to keep track of all the opportunities available. Aetna has just announced a Premium Savings program that can help provide cost savings during this time of change.

Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices Finds Ease in Credit Standards and Increased Demand for Business Loans

The survey results generally indicated that banks’ policies regarding lending to businesses eased over the past three months and demand increased. A significant fraction of banks indicated that the demand for prime mortgages had picked up. A few banks reported having eased their standards on prime residential mortgages, and respondents’ lending standards for nontraditional mortgages were little changed.   Read more

Sarah Martorina Joins BCG, Inc. as Insurance Services Analyst

Sarah Martorina has joined Bankers Cooperative Group, Inc. (BCG) as an Insurance Services Analyst. Her responsibilities at BCG will include being a liaison between insurance carriers and NJBankers member employees for claims and benefit issues; being support for new business and renewal quotes; assist in maintaining enrollment eligibility; participate in employee enrollment meetings and prepare employee benefit statements.    Read more

Columbia Bank Volunteers Complete Community Project

A volunteer crew of Columbia Bank employees recently painted several classrooms at the Phoenix Center, a Nutley based school that provides educational and therapeutic services to children with disabilities. All labor and materials were donated by Columbia Bank.    Read more

City of Perth Amboy Gets $5,000 Boost from Provident Bank Foundation

The City of Perth Amboy recently received a $5,000 grant from The Provident Bank Foundation to help the city purchase three automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for its police department, which are life-saving, portable devices that can check the heart rhythm and are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest. If needed, an AED can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. Read more

NJBankers and Allstate New Jersey Extend Date to "Restore the Shore"

NJBankers and Allstate New Jersey have extended the Jersey Shore Relief - Restore the Shore Promotion exclusively for the member employees of NJBankers and associate members.  One auto quote will generate $30 to the Jersey Shore Relief Fund on the employee's behalf. Every NJBankers member employee or associate member employee who sends in an auto quote will be entered into a grand drawing for three $200 Pre-Paid Gift Cards to be raffled off the end of September 30, 2013.
