FDIC Releases Basel III Calculator

The FDIC has created a regulatory capital estimation tool designed to help community banks evaluate the potential impact of the recently published interim final capital rule on capital ratios.    Read more

Agencies Increase Threshold for Exempt Consumer Credit, Lease Transactions

The Federal Reserve (Fed) and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced that the dollar threshold for exempting consumer credit and lease transactions under Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act) and Regulation M (Consumer Leasing Act) will increase from $53,000 to $53,500 on Jan. 1, 2014.    Read more

FDIC and OCC Issue Final Guidance Regarding Deposit Advance Products

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) have issued final supervisory guidance to financial institutions that offer or may consider offering deposit advance products. The guidance is intended to ensure that banks are aware of the credit, reputational, operational and compliance risks associated with deposit advance products and have taken steps to mitigate these risks effectively.   Read more

Hilltop Community Bank's Three Locations Officially Rebranded as Haven Savings Bank Branches

Haven Savings Bank officially brought Hilltop Community Bank’s three locations under its brand. The former Hilltop branches in Berkeley Heights, Madison and Summit underwent their final stage of integration into Haven Savings Bank. The signage changes complete a merger process originally announced in June, and bring the total number of full service Haven Savings Bank branches to nine.  Read more

The Provident Bank Foundation Donates $5,000 Grant to Somerset Medical Center

The Provident Bank Foundation has provided a $5,000 grant to Somerset Medical Center Foundation in support of the Diabetes Center. Legal publication, Law360, recently named Robert Azarow, a partner with NJBankers Associate Member Arnold & Porter LLP, an “MVP” in the banking practice area on its annual list honoring the “top players in the legal industry.”  The outlet recognized Azarow for his leadership and oversight on the sale of substantially all the assets of Aurora Bank, the wholly owned non-debtor subsidiary of bankrupt Lehman Brothers in nine separate transactions without loss or cost to the FDIC or taxpayers. Rob was also recognized for leading the Arnold & Porter team this past February in representing bankrupt PMI Mortgage Insurance Co. in agreements with Arch Capital Group Ltd. for the sale of PMI’s operating platform and its 50% stake in CMG Mortgage Assurance Co. and CMFG Life Insurance Co.    Read more
