NJBankers Capitol Hill Visits - SAVE THE DATE

Once again, NJBankers will be conducting visits to your Congressmen and Senators this Spring.  From March 24th through March 26th, in conjunction with the American Bankers Association's Washington Government Affairs Summit, NJBankers will be coordinating meetings with our Federal representatives. 

In past years, the ABA portion of the trip included speeches by regulators and the national leadership.  NJBankers has been successful in having meetings with most of our Congressional delegation.

Members Urged to Ratify Proposed By-law Amendments

At its meeting on November 20, 2013, the Board of Directors recommended that the membership ratify changes to the New Jersey Bankers Association By-laws. A packet of information relating to the proposed changes was mailed to all Regular Member banks on December 2, 2013. Members are urged to review the information and vote on the changes as soon as possible, but no later than January 16, 2014. The Board of Directors urges ratification of all the proposed amendments.

CFPB Issues Letter Addressing Compliance with Implementation of New Mortgage Rules

Richard Cordray, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has addressed the implementation of the new mortgage rules in a letter to community bankers. The rules take effect on January 10, 2014. Click here for a copy of the letter.

Bank of New Jersey Names Michael Lesler CEO and Richard Capone CFO

Bancorp of New Jersey, Inc., the holding company of Bank of New Jersey, has announced that its board of directors has appointed Michael Lesler as president and chief executive officer.

In connection with Lesler's promotion, the board of directors also appointed Richard Capone as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Company and the Bank. Capone has served as a senior vice president and controller since 2009

Dietzler and Snyder Appointed to Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia today announced the appointments of Edward Dietzler and Angela Snyder to its Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC). The 12-member council, composed of representatives from commercial banks, thrift institutions, and credit unions, provides insights on economic and business trends facing community depository institutions in their local markets. Each appointee will serve a three-year term, which began January 1.

Nevels and Angelakis Appointed to Lead Philadelphia Fed Board of Directors


The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia announced the appointments of James E. Nevels, chairman and founder of The Swarthmore Group in Philadelphia, and Michael J. Angelakis, vice chairman and CFO of Comcast Corp., to chairman and deputy chairman of its board of directors, respectively. Their one-year terms will begin January 2014.    Read more

Bogota Savings Bank Donates Pajamas and Books to the Pajama Program Which Serves Children Often Abused and Abandoned

For the third consecutive year at the annual Bogota Savings Bank holiday party, employees donated 62 pajamas and 41 books to the Pajama Program. The children served by the Pajama Program have difficult and complicated lives often having been abused or abandoned. Newfield National Bank Promotes Long and Pankok

Carol Long was recently promoted to assistant cashier/credit manager.  Long began her career with Newfield as a file clerk/loan servicer. She advanced to loan processor and then advanced again to credit analyst. She has been with the bank for the last six years. 

Claudine Pankok was promoted to assistant vice president of audit. Pankok has been with the bank  for 20 years and started as the assistant auditor. She graduated from Salisbury State University with a B.S. in business administration/management.

Provident Bank Announces "Committed to Share" Sweepstakes Winners

The Provident Bank announced the three top prize winners and charities of its annual “Committed to Share” sweepstakes, which ran between October 1 and November 23, 2013, and gave New Jersey residents the opportunity to win cash prizes and support their favorite charities.
During its eight-week run, the bank awarded $10,800 in prizes to 54 daily sweepstakes winners and their favorite charities. These daily sweepstakes winners were also entered for a chance to win one of the three top cash prizes that were awarded this weekend.
