House Passes Flood Insurance Bill

By a 306-91 vote, the House last night passed a bipartisan compromise bill to protect the affordability of flood insurance. The bill addresses a number of unintended consequences stemming from the 2012 Biggert-Waters flood insurance reform law and is expected to pass in the Senate as well.

ABA Insurance Program Endorsed by NJBankers Distributes $1.1 Million to ABA Member Banks

NJBankers Endorsed Service Provider American Bankers Mutual Insurance, Ltd. has declared $1,100,000 in distributions this year to be shared by more than 980 banks across the country. Thirty-four New Jersey banks will share nearly $56,000.

American Bankers Mutual Insurance, Ltd., the reinsurer of the ABA Insurance Services program, has declared distributions to eligible member banks for 24 consecutive years, totaling $79 million in distributions since the program’s inception. Nearly $3.6 million of that has been shared with New Jersey banks. Bank members of the American Bankers Association (ABA) that purchase their directors and officers, bond and related insurance from ABA Insurance Services are eligible to receive a distribution.

OritaniBank Charitable Foundation Grants $20,000 to Township of Washington First Responders


The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation announced that it has awarded two $10,000 grants to the Township of Washington first responders. A $10,000 grant was awarded to the volunteer fire department and another $10,000 grant was awarded to the volunteer ambulance corps. Sun National Bank Supports The Cape Educational Fund


John Whittle, manager of a Sun National Bank branch in Cape May, presents a check for $500 to Karren Barr, a teacher from Lower Cape May Regional High School, for The Cape Educational Fund.  Barr is a grant recipient for her work with honey bees. The grant helped students build hives at the school and produce honey that they were able to bottle and sell. The Cape Educational Fund offers grants to Cape May County teachers who propose innovative projects and motivate students in creative ways.
