CFPB Proposes Online Privacy Disclosures

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) proposed a new rule yesterday that would allow financial institutions to post annual privacy notices online rather than delivering them through direct mail if they meet certain requirements. The CFPB estimated that approximately $17 million could be saved by the industry each year if qualified institutions choose the online disclosure method.

The Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (GLBA) generally requires institutions to send annual privacy notices directly to customers, which describe how the consumers’ nonpublic information is being shared. “Institutions that choose to rely on this new method of delivering privacy notices would be required to use the model disclosure form developed by federal regulatory agencies in 2009,” said the CFPB.

The proposal is open for a 30 day comment period. Please click HERE for additional information.

Reminder - NJBankers' Compensation Surveys Deadline Approaching

Once again in 2014, NJBankers is conducting two compensation surveys that will provide valuable information to the membership:

Crowe Horwath LLP Financial Institutions Compensation Survey:  This survey provides descriptions and useful benchmarks of compensation, incentives, benefits and human resource practices for 192 positions.  By participating in the survey, members will receive the survey results at a substantial discount and will help make the survey more valuable for all participants.  In addition to a report for the state of New Jersey, the members can also purchase a Comprehensive Report based on financial institutions in multiple states.  Members can participate in and purchase either the Compensation & Benefits Reports or the Salary Survey or both. Additionally, there is either a hardcopy with PDF version or a PDF version option only.  Please respond to Candice Cullen candice.cullen@crowehorwath.com to confirm your participation and Candice will forward via e-mail the survey for your completion.

NJBankers “Top Five Management” and Directors Compensated Positions: In addition to the NJBankers sponsored Crowe Horwath Compensation Survey, NJBankers is also conducting its annual internal salary survey, which provides information on the top five salaries for each bank along with directors’ compensation.  All participants will receive survey results at no cost. Please contact Jim Meredith at jmeredith@njbankers.com for a copy of the survey form.

Since the NJBankers survey is designed to supplement and coordinate with the salary/benefits survey of the Crowe Horwath survey we urge you to participate in both surveys as the more institutions that participate, the more valuable the surveys will be.

Time is quickly running out, so please contact us today!
