You should have seen the look on the regulator's faces when the State Bankers Associations (SBAs) presented regulators with data that revealed the disparate enforcement of Fair Lending standards in two of the FDIC regional offices.  This data was gathered as part of the Regulatory Feedback Initiative which consists of a confidential electronic survey where banks can anonymously provide details on their most recent examination or visitation. The information is aggregated and analyzed on a national level so we can begin to identify discrepancies in how bank regulations are being enforced. Read More

Gallman Plaque Presented to NJBankers

Emil Gallman was the long-time chief executive officer of the New Jersey Savings League, a predecessor of NJBankers, serving from 1930 to 1966.  Upon his retirement, the League presented him with a plaque that was signed by association member bank presidents, legislators and other well-wishers.

Gallman’s grandson, Jim Hamilton, contacted NJBankers about the plaque as he was coming to New Jersey from Massachusetts on a business trip and hoped it would be of interest to the Association. We were thrilled to accept his generous offer of the plaque! Read More

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Augusto A. Gomes, 71, on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Augusto worked for AT&T for 30 years and was the founder, former President and CEO of Lusitania Savings Bank of Newark and had most recently served as the Chairman of the Board. Read More

Fed Survey: Mobile Banking Continues to Grow
Mobile banking use continued to grow in 2014, according to a recently released Federal Reserve survey. Thirty-nine percent of cell phone users surveyed in December 2014 reported using mobile banking services in the previous year, up from 33 percent in 2013. More than half of smartphone users reported using mobile banking.

Glen Rock Savings Bank Launches Mobile Banking App and Revamped Website
Glen Rock Savings Bank, which serves the personal and commercial banking needs of customers throughout northern New Jersey, is rolling out the Glen Rock Savings mobile banking application for tablets and smartphones, as well as a revamped website, www.GlenRockOnline.com, with expanded functionality.  Both have been introduced as of today, April 1. The new app, which can be downloaded onto iPads, Kindle Fire and Nook tablets as well as iPhones and Android devices, allows customers to monitor their accounts through text messages and alerts, view transaction histories, check account balances, transfer funds and schedule bill payments without visiting a branch or logging on at home.

The Best 50 Women in Business awards program honors New Jersey’s most dynamic women in business that have been making headlines in their field.
