It is with sadness we announce the passing of George K. Snyder on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Mr. Snyder served as an investment banker for Wells Fargo in Short Hills for more than 32 years.

Agencies Release Cybersecurity Self-Assessment Tool
The agencies of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council released a free cybersecurity self-assessment tool to help financial institutions of all sizes identify the cyber risks they face and assess their preparedness. The assessment is based on a 2014 pilot cybersecurity assessment of more than 500 financial institutions.

NJ Statewide "Connecting With The Community Reinvestment Act" Conference
Thursday, July 30, 2015 - 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation invite you to attend a conference that will bring together regulators, financial institutions, nonprofits, and public agencies within New Jersey for a day long discussion on community economic development and the Community Reinvestment Act. 

Federal Home Loan Bank of New York Begins 2015 Board of Directors Election Process
The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (“FHLBNY”) is now formally soliciting nominations for candidates to serve on its Board of Directors (“Board”) for terms commencing on January 1, 2016, the FHLBNY announced in a letter sent to its members on Friday, June 26, 2015. In total, four Directorships will be up for election in 2015, two of which are to represent the FHLBNY's New York members and two of which are Independent Directorships representing the whole District.

FHA Details New Approach to Loan Quality Assurance
The Federal Housing Administration last week posted a new "defect taxonomy" that explains how the agency will categorize loan defects found in the single family loans it guarantees. The guidelines are part of FHA's quality assurance efforts following several cases where lenders were forced to absorb losses on FHA loans with faulty underwriting. The taxonomy consolidates 99 different defect codes into nine and includes information on the defects' source and relative severity. Read more.

IRS Presents 2015 Mid-Atlantic Anti-Money Laundering Conference
The Ninth Annual Mid-Atlantic Anti-Money Laundering (MAAML) Conference will take place at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City, 1250 South Hayes Street, Arlington, Virginia, 22202, July 28 and 29, 2015. This conference will focus on current money laundering trends, successful investigations as well as lessons learned. The conference will additionally serve as an opportunity for law enforcement and industry partners to network and establish working relationships that will help secure the nation and shutdown vulnerabilities within the financial and economic sectors.

Join Ocean City Home Bank for their Seventh Annual Walk for the Wounded
On Saturday, September 26, Ocean City Home Bank will host the Seventh Annual Walk for the Wounded on the Ocean City Boardwalk.  The Walk, which raises funds for returning soldiers facing physical, emotional, and economic hardships, has raised more than $400,000 since its inception, while generating awareness for this important cause. 

Public Confidence in Banks Edges Up
American confidence in banks edged up to its highest point since 2008, according to Gallup’s annual “Confidence in Institutions” survey. Twenty-eight percent of Americans reported “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in banks, seven points above the record low notched in 2012.
